NEW CONISTON FACILITY TO GROW WOLLONGONG MANUFACTURING JOBS
A world-class advanced materials production centre begins construction in Coniston today, backed by $1.5 million under the Albanese Labor Government’s Industry Growth Program.
Member for Cunningham, Alison Byrnes MP joined representatives from engineering firm Gravitas Technologies to break ground on the two new state of the art high technology warehouses which will sit alongside the existing Gravitas facility.
The Industry Growth Program is an Albanese Labor Government initiative aimed at transforming Australian manufacturing into a more ambitious, sovereign, and future-focused sector. It supports businesses such as Gravitas Technologies by helping them commercialise innovative ideas and scale rapidly.
The program strengthens the Illawarra’s industrial base and economic resilience through tailored advisory services and two targeted grant opportunities, laying the groundwork for a competitive and resilient manufacturing sector.
Engineering firm Gravitas Technologies can look forward to developing cutting-edge technologies across various industries including aerospace, defence and green steel production at the new facility.
It will be home to breakthrough high-pressure processing and advanced materials production for use in extreme environments.
Isostatic pressing is a manufacturing process used to compact powdered materials into solid forms by applying pressure uniformly from all directions.
This technique is widely used in advance manufacturing industries to produce high-density, high-performance materials.
